Except it’s free, and I’ve been waiting for W10 for months. =3

But then I’d own a shit iMac AIO with a crappy GPU and no upgradeability.
Why would I want to limit myself like that?

I think the joke you’re trying to make is System32. Windows32 (or Win32) or a set of APIs that go for pretty much every application you’ve ever installed on the windows platform, save for the Metro/Modern apps in Windows 8.

Ummm when I bought my mac it did 450 mb update the moment I took it out of the box and plugged it in. That being said it was easy and seamless and it doesn’t randomly crash like my windows 7 machine which is only 3 months old.

Morning Pip; it’s a Microsoft thing. They’ve got their new Windows version coming out and they’ve injected this advertising bit onto the desktop, in that little place down in the corner called the System Tray . So they insert advertising right onto my computer, and I have a grievance with that. There’s a sub-ilk of us Windows users who will notice that little icon instantly and be highly irritated by it.

So, why didn’t you install the free preview build? I’ve been running a VM with W10 for 4 months now.

I’ve owned many laptops, but the only new one I ever bought was a MacBook Pro. Core i7 and I upgraded it to 16 GB of RAM and a 256-gig SSD. No doubt the finest laptop computer ever manufactured by anyone. Try as I might, I just couldn’t learn to love Appledom. So I traded it to a guy for his Canon 7D body. It was a good deal for both of us.
There are still several MacBooks in the house and I understand them well enough to support and repair them, but I’m still die hard Windows.
It’s sort of like learning to drive on a Chevrolet and never learning to love a Ford.

As an ex-Apple technician: lol nope. Sorry. You’ll have a completely different set of problems. After working on computers for 7 years I’ve learned that each system has its downsides. This comment just makes you look ignorant.

Doesn’t mean they aren’t rife with issues, just like PCs.

so what are some issues with Apple products then?
as i have no F’ing idea.

Lots of the same stuff as PCs. Slowdowns, frequent updates, have to reboot for updates which one time took me two hours, upgrading them is either impossible or a pain in the ass (didn’t used to be the case, some older iMacs make upgrading RAM/HDD/CPU an absolute breeze but now you need suction cups and fucking electromagnets to get the screen off without breaking it), if your machine isn’t supported officially anymore you’re basically SOL with Applecare, and many mom&pop stores refuse to work on Apple equipment due to the difficulty/expensive fragile parts. And I’ve talked to a few Apple Geniuses. They’re there to sell you stuff 90% of the time, not to actually help you. I’ve seen cases where they replaced a hard drive to solve what turned out to be a graphics card issue, losing all of the users data in the process.
So, basically, faults. Just like any other company. Just like any other complex machine. Just like any other computer made inside a row of identical Chinese sweatshops. (which is basically all of them with the possible exception of Visio)

To each their own, I like to do mock up and bench test over VMWare workstation so i can test the new software on any fictitious chipset that I may interact with on my network.

Oh I have VMs too but I don’t really have hardware to run ‘em on. A laptop with a base i5 and 4GB RAM isn’t quite enough to run more than one OS at a time :\
I played around as much as I could then switched to dual boot with 10.0.9926. I’ve almost forgotten about Windows 7 entirely.

lol too true. I actually only run VMs on my mobile workstation. lenovo w510 from I think 2 years ago. I want to get some new hardware but budgets be budgeting, lol.

Gof I’d kill for a T/W 5 series! I’m “working” on an L440 which is, I’m quite certain, an underglorified WalMart Black Friday Special. I had a T520/i7/16GB/256GB SSD at my last gig; this was one hell of a downgrade :(

I am waiting to upgrade my home Pc, or build a desktop (I have never built a desktop for myself) I use an ASUS laptop from 2008 as my media center and general purpose home PC, dual core T9300 4GB DDR2 800Mhz and a Samsung 840 Pro 250. She’s a good little thing but showing her age and I now have a home so I want to build a gaming computer that can also run a production environment. Looking for two full processors but I need at least 24 cores, ideally want 36 cores.
